Friends of Lynchburg Dog Park Opens

I can't believe how exciting it is to actually have a dog park here in Lynchburg!  Today was opening day for the "Friends of Lynchburg Dog Park" Dog park.  ?  Anyway, Lynchburg just a bit cooler, finally.  This town is slow at change but there are few here that have come together and encouraged many to get involved and help raise the funds to get a dog park.  It is awesome for this community.  I am excited, really!  Ava, my gsd, lovessss it!

Microfiber: I Swear By It!

Microfiber:  I Swear By It!
I am preparing to go to school and I am looking for ways to cut back on products or things we buy and use at home.  I have bought cloth napkins and we are using those instead of paper napkins.  I wanted to take it a step further and stop using rolls and rolls of paper towels.  I was in Sam's Club the other day shopping and saw a flatbed with a bunch of cleaning supplies on it including a pack of microfiber towels.  I thought, "Hey, I wonder how much those are?"  I went over to the janitorial supplies and found the microfiber towels.  They come in a pack of 24 and are just $11.99.  That is 50 cents per towel.  Sounds like a bargain.  I think I will buy a pack.  Now, I have a book on thrifty things for the house and it is chock full of vinegar and baking soda recipes, but it also has a section on microfiber towels.  It says to just use water and that's it.  So I tried it!

Here is a specimen to try first.  This is my side table on my front porch

I have my bucket of hot water and my towels.  You can see that I have one wet one in the bucket and one dry towel

(Before) Next, I used my wet towel and began cleaning the glass

I wiped both sides of glass (please excuse black spot on table, my daughter decided to use the Hibachi grill on the table one afternoon while entertaining friends)

(After) Tada!  (Yes, the table is dirty, but I don't have a hose out front)

I also did the big windows on the front of the house (outside only)

Finished!

I did all my transom windows in the house, the front door windows, the back door windows, and mirrors in the house.  I just cannot believe how awesome they come out and with no cleaning products.  Water only.  I did have to empty the water a couple times and fill up with clean water.  It was looking a little nasty.

One thing that I find cool is that the microfiber towels come in multiple colors, so you could but several packs and use them for different household tasks.  I bought yellow first.  I will use these for cleaning the house and I will go back and buy a different color for just keeping the kitchen clean.
I highly recommend this way of cleaning.  Not only does it save you money but you also help save the environment from chemicals.

1st Post

Wow!  Where should I start?  I am anxiously waiting for the reply from the school that I have applied for.  It is for nursing school.  Nervoussssss.  I am about to change my entire life to go to school.  My husband is awesome and is ready to support all of the changes we are about to encounter.  I am looking forward to a new change.  I guess we will see what happens.  It really is in God's hands.
I am cleaning the house today and taking a break.  I started using the microfiber towels to clean.  It is freaking awesome!  I am cleaing all the windows in the house.  We have an old house and we have transom windows above the interior doors to the rooms.  Anyway, I am just using hot water and the towels.  The windows are beautiful!
